Monday, May 5: Cinco de Mayo at Koko by Bakan

This Cinco de Mayo, step into Koko by Bakan in Coconut Grove where the air smells like smoke and spice, the kind that clings to your clothes and kisses your skin. At 8:30 p.m., the Mariachi band kicks in—loud and full of sabor. Tortillas? Nixtamalized and hand-pressed like they still believe in doing things right. The woodfire’s always on, the mezcal’s always pouring, and the carnitas prensadas hit like a love letter from Oaxaca—greasy, glorious, and gone too soon.

Koko’s not here for your basic margarita moment. It’s a full-body experience: open kitchen chaos, jungle lush interiors, and a bar stacked 400 bottles deep with reasons to make bad decisions. Bring your appetite, your sharpest fit, and someone worth dancing through the night with.

Koko is located at 2856 Tigertail Ave, Miami, FL 33133. For more information, visit their official website

Tuesday, May 6: Take-out Night from Bombay Darbar

Skip the sad Tuesday leftovers—takeout from Bombay Darbar is how you turn a regular night into something worth remembering. Maybe you’re in pajamas, and maybe it’s been that kind of day. Skip the mindless scrolling because Bombay Darbar is the move when Tuesday hits like a wall. One quick order and your night goes from “ugh” to ultra-savory in under an hour.

There’s rich, slow-cooked curries that know how to comfort without playing it safe and tandoori chicken tikka cooked in a clay oven (our forever go-to). Pair that with the garlic naan, and you’ve got yourself a real feast. And if you want to go the extra mile to treat yourself, don’t sleep on the homemade and super creamy mango kulfi. Order it. Unpack it. Let the night unfold with slow bites and no rules. This is going to be one Tuesday night for the books, and you don’t even need to leave your home.

Saturday, May 10: National Shrimp Day at CJ’s Crab Shack

What to Do in Miami This Week [May 5-11] - Bombay Darbar, CJ's Crab Shack, Koko by Bakan, Primo's, weekly - May 2025

This National Shrimp Day (May 10), CJ’s Crab Shack is showing up loud for the little crustacean that could. Forget fancy forks—this is peel-n-eat territory, saucy, buttery, and finger-licking in full effect. Whether you’re rolling in solo or with your beach crew, CJ’s is the move for that no-frills, full-flavor seafood fix right on the South Beach strip.

Think beer-drunk shrimp, incredibly addictive fried popcorn shrimp, loaded crispy fried shrimp po boys, and shrimp so fresh it probably saw the ocean this morning. Wash it all down with a cold draft or one of their dangerously good cocktails (Granny Jewel wouldn’t judge). It’s casual, it’s messy, it’s everything Shrimp Day should be. Pull up, crack a shell, and give May 10 the crispy, juicy celebration it deserves.

Sunday, May 11: Mother’s Day at Primo’s

What to Do in Miami This Week [May 5-11] - Bombay Darbar, CJ's Crab Shack, Koko by Bakan, Primo's, weekly - May 2025

Mother’s Day hits different at Primo’s—no soggy buffet eggs, no screaming toddlers, no awkward prix-fixe panic. Just real-deal Italian comfort tucked away in Biscayne Bay, where the vibe is warm, the pasta’s fresh, and Mom actually gets to sit down and be spoiled.

Start her off strong with the chicken napoletana—crispy, saucy, Parma-ham glory—or a bubbling quattro formaggi pizza that’s basically a cheese love letter. Now the short rib pappardelle? Slow-cooked magic. The porcini truffle risotto? Earthy, elegant, and totally main-character energy. If Mom’s more “I’ll just have something light,” slide her the grilled chicken salad laced with gorgonzola and pretend it’s not still secretly decadent. Dessert is non-negotiable: think chocolate-glazed profiteroles or an affogato with a boozy almond crunch. Pair it all with a crisp glass of Il Nido Sauvignon Blanc and toast to the special someone in your life.
