Buya Izakaya + Yakitori

Buya Izakaya+Yakitori is an essential Miami hangout for those looking for a laid-back, fun evening with friends. Buya is a step or two above the typical izakaya, bringing innovation and locality to its crowd-favorite Japanese street food with multiple locations in both Florida and Germany. Most importantly, we guarantee you won’t break the bank during your visit to this Wynwood gem.

Buya was founded by Michael Sponaugle and Jeff Grosser, along with the folks behind popular Asian eatery KYU, so you know you’re in for a gastronomic treat. Even when it comes to izakaya bites. The must-share dishes range from binchotan charcoal-grilled kushiyaki to yakitori, like the miso-glazed quail and shiso chimichurri wagyu. Others include the scrumptious, fatty pork belly buns and crispy karaage chicken. For solo bowls, go for the Oxtail Ramen or Duck Gyoza Hot Pot  — both ideal comfort foods with supreme umami.

If you’re not coming with a big group, go straight for the bar seats where you can watch all the sizzlin’ happen in their open kitchen. If drinks are the forte of the night, go directly to their sake bar, inspired by Tokyo’s famous Golden Gai bar district. There you’ll find creative concoctions like Show Me Wax On, Wax Off — a beautiful composition of sencha-infused sake, lemon, lavender, and honey, and bubbles. It’s a playful and interactive atmosphere with nooks and crannies hiding secret tasting items. The bar is first-come, first-served, and can only seat up to one party at a time.

250 NW 24th St, Miami, FL 33127; (305) 699-0601, buyarestaurants.com; Open every day 12 p.m. – 11 p.m.
